6. Mix and match colours and patterns. The beauty of shabby chic is that it can look muddled up but still beautiful. Don't be afraid to clash colours and patterns. 7. Be bold with your floor tiles. Pick a lovely floral pattern or a vintage or Victorian tile, or even one with a distressed finish in true shabby chic style. The bottom line with shabby chic is there aren't any real rules - you can add whatever you like to up either the shabby or the chic element.
